This is a very large abstract canvas that can either be hung horizontally (as the placement of the signature suggests) or vertically in an expansive space with high ceilings. It was originally bought in the early 90’s by an American Bank based in London and then subsequently sold when the bank moved offices in 2005.  
 
Unfortunately I cannot inform you of the artist’s name as the signature is impossible to define. But what we do know about the history of the painting is that it came as part of a trio of paintings by the same artist acquired by the bank. The 3 paintings were bought from a London gallery for just under £10,000 and were subsequently all hung in their reception foyer. It’s a shame that with changes in personnel in the bank over the years that the original purchase receipt was lost but it’s clearly a quality piece and if the artist’s name could be deciphered at some point it would no doubt prove to be valuable.  
 
In any event whilst art can often be seen as an investment the investment here is in whatever one sees in the piece and what enjoyment is derived from its undoubted vibrant, abstract presence. Its most likely painted in acrylics and has been layered with thick strokes to create a heavily layered canvas. The piece is in very good condition.
 
Needless to say the leather sofa shown in the last image is not included in the price and has therefore been added to give you a sense of scale as the sofa is 2m wide.  The sofa shown is however currently available to purchase separately and can viewed HERE.
