Hand made for an exclusive London residence this set exudes class, quality and sophistication with the original price of the set being in excess of £30,000. The large table features an X frame base that connects two highly figured Macassar support frames that have been expertly inset into the ebonised top. Everything about this table is impressive from the chrome central inserts in the leg supports to the hidden construction elements that can be viewed from underneath that demonstrate the fine jointing and fixing craftsmanship. It is a solid and heavy table and is presented in very good used condition with just a few minor marks to the top and frame as expected.

It's matched to a set of 10 champagne leather chairs which have a woven gold, cream and silver thread back. Hand made by Decorus of London the chairs again feature exceptional craftsmanship that combines comfort with soft high quality leather. You can’t really see it in the photos but the leather has a golden shimmering sheen to it which matches the golden threads in the fabric on the back. It’s a beautifully constructed set of chairs that remain in very good used condition – one has a small mark to the seat (it is a mark and not a split or tear) and 2 of the chairs have some very small nicks in the leather on the side; all shown in the accompanying photos.

All in all a truly impressive dining set that would take pride of place in any home and would match a contemporary as well as a more decorative style of décor.

20th Century Design Soft Furnishings Policy

The Furniture and Furnishings (Fire) (Safety) Regulations 1988 (as amended in 1989 and 1993) state that all soft furnishings holding foam must conform to BS5852 standards. This means that any post-1988 furniture will need to bear a fire label for auction and 2nd hand sale purposes.

The following exceptions apply:
• Items constructed pre-1950 [Regulation 4(a)]
• Items being sold to someone who is in the business of reupholstering furniture [See Regulation 4[b] and Consumer Protection Act 1987, s.46(7)]
• Items being sold to someone who is in the business of dealing in
furniture [Regulation 14(1)]
• Items being sold that will not be used in a domestic setting in the UK e.g. for export, for use in a museum or theatre, as a work of art [Regulation 3(1a) and 4(c)]

Soft furnishings for sale on this website are therefore sold as collector’s items and are not intended for private use – and in buying any item from this website you understand this. Further you accept all risks and liabilities that may arise from your purchase. They may not be in compliance with the Furniture & Furnishings (Fire)(Safety) Regulations 1988 and should be re-upholstered to conform to BS 5852 prior to any use in a domestic dwelling. Your purchase will therefore only be accepted on the agreement that the furnishings will not be used in a domestic dwelling.
