A set of 5 Vintage Maja burnt orange fabric and chrome dining chairs by Kazuhide Takahama. 
 
Rare set of 5 beautifully designed vintage chairs by Kazuhide Takahama for Italian design house Simon at Gavina. Wonderful organic shape that mimics the petals of a tulip in a red/orange brushed cotton fabric that is best described as burnt orange in colour. 
 
Dating from the late 1980s this set is in good vintage condition commensurate with their age with light wear to the tops of each arm as can be seen in the photos and light marks to the chrome work but no major rust pitting or flaking and no holes, stains or tears in the fabric. The entire set features zip on and off covers so could easily be reupholstered if you preferred to match the fabric colour more specifically to your décor. Each chair has the impressed ‘S’ Simon mark in the middle of the front chrome stretcher as shown in the photographs.
 
Born in 1930 Takahama studied Architecture in Tokyo before moving to Italy in 1963 where he worked alongside Dino Gavina for many years. His design style encompasses numerous forms and cultural influences but always feature clean, uncomplicated lines that echo balance and harmony. His chair designs vary from block and square forms, as seen in his Kazuki chair, to more soft, curved and flowing lines as evidenced in these chairs.

The chairs are both stylish and comfortable to sit in and would suit many different table shapes and styles.
