A set of eight Mid Century dark stained teak and fabric rail back dining chairs designed by Arne Hovmand Olsen and produced by Mogens Kold.
These Olsen chairs are a classic design of his and were produced by Mogens Kold in the 1960s. These particular chairs, with the rail back and gently curved stretchers, have a more refined rustic shape than Olsen’s other designs and would have originally been produced with the paper cord seats – but, as with many chairs from the 60s, the paper cord has long since perished and has been replaced by padding and fabric. However, this actually makes them more comfortable and easier to maintain and the beautiful cornflower blue material compliments the teak frames well.
The chairs are in very good vintage condition: The wooden frames are in their original finish which is in good order and each show a few knocks and marks here and there just as you would expect with vintage chairs of this age. The corn flower blue upholstery has been professionally upholstered sometime in the recent past and is therefore in excellent condition with no stains, marks, holes or tears.
The chairs are shown in the last two photographs with a large rosewood table and you can see that the dark stain of the teak is a good match not only to most teak tables but also to rosewood or mahogany. The table shown has since been sold and is therefore shown for size and colour comparison purposes only.
