A pair of B&B Italia Clio lounge chairs designed by Antonio Citterio in grey linen with an ebonised oak frame.
 
The Clio armchair was designed by Antonio Citterio for B&B Italia / Maxalto. From the Simplice collection it features a solid oak frame with a black ebonised finish. The base cushion, seat back inserts front and back and loose back pillow are upholstered in a warm grey linen with a down insert. In this configuration with the additional ‘flounce’ back cushion each chair currently retails at over £4,000 per piece.
 
The price is for the pair and although not perfect they are presented in very good used condition. There are some marks, as shown, on the arms of the chairs but as the frame is ebonised these do not show the base colour of the wood and therefore do not detract. The upholstery is in excellent condition.
 
Antonio Citterio originally trained as an architect and in 1999, with Patricia Viel, founded Antonio Citterio and Partners. The studio operates at international level developing projects encompassing both industrial and domestic architecture and furniture design. He has won numerous design awards and designs for many high end design houses including B&B Italia, Maxalto, Flos, Vitra, Kartel and Hermès.
 
In 2008 he was honoured by the Royal Society for the Encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce of London, which gave him the title of Royal Designer for Industry.
