This is an framed original embossed etching by British born artist DAVID DICKINSON (1940-2009) in hues of blue, gold and grey.
It is pencil signed by the artist lower right, dated 1967, titled in pencil 'Memory of a Viking' and numbered 1 from an edition of 30 prints only. An example of this etching was exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1967 (#819). This particular example was acquired by the noted photographer and art collector the late Sir George Pollock, Bt.
The image is in excellent condition with strong original colours. As this print was framed previously for the original owner there is some tape residue verso and slight time staining to the margins from the old mount and some slight rucking to the paper along the top and lower edges.
It’s difficult to pick up from the photos but as an embossed etching the picture has a 3D effect where the image stands proud of the paper, which adds to its appeal.
Needless to say the chair in the last photograph is not included in the price – it’s simply used as a reference point to show scale
