Rare Mid Century Johannes Anderson 3 draw console table. While information on designer Johannes Andersen is limited and difficult to verify, it is believed that he was born in 1903 in Aarhus, Denmark, and that he initially apprenticed as a cabinetmaker. He went on to work for many years in a number of workshops before opening his own architectural and furniture workshop in the 1930s.

Best known for his ‘Smile’ table Anderson was an accomplished cabinet maker who produced numerous designs including seating, tables and storage. He worked for his own firm, as well as many notable Swedish, Danish, and Norwegian companies such as Trensum, CFC Silkeborg, Bramin, and Uldum Møbelfabrik until he retired in the late 1980’s.

This rarely seen console table features his trademark cabinet legs with a strong tapering form supported by a cross member. As with much of his furniture simplicity is key and here the draws just have a simple round finger pull to open them. The wood is most likely teak but is difficult to verify as it has been finished with a darker stain at some time in its history and dates back to the mid 1950s.
