Vintage late Mid Century leather T1 sling chairs by Rodney Kinsman for OMK.
 
Kinsman trained at the Central School of Art and in 1966 founded OMK furniture with partners Jurek Olejnik and Bryan Morrison in 1966 – the company name being based on each of the initials of their surnames. OMK were a key designer and manufacturer that lead the way in the High-Tech design movement that expanded the popularity of Mid-century and 20th century British design throughout the 60’s and 70’s. Kinsman designed a number of pieces of furniture that have become icons of the time and worked most notably with Italian design house Bieffeplast in constructing a range of furniture and shelving in epoxy resin coated metal.
 
His chrome T1 sling lounge chair very much echoed OMK’s design ethos at the time of creating designs based on technical conception. Originally produced in 1967 and sold through Sir Terence Conran’s Habitat stores it became an instant success and over the last 5 years, highly collectable.
 
This pair of chairs are both in overall very good vintage condition. This pair of chairs are both in overall good vintage condition. There are some marks to the leather as you would expect given their age with slight cracking across the top of the back and stretch marks in the seat but no holes or tears to speak of. They’re comfortable to sit in and their low slung minimalist design form means they fit within both a contemporary and vintage setting.
