Believed to date from 1920-1930 this lounge chair and ottoman has a simple but distinctive Art Deco style and is reminiscent of the Utrecht chair designed by Gerrit Rietveld for Cassina in 1935. The chair sits on its ‘haunches’ at the back and features the same style blanket stitch used by Cassina – you’ll also note that the chair’s back cushion interlocks with the base cushion at the rear.

The wood is most likely walnut and is thick and heavy featuring dovetail joints to each corner and gently rounded detailing to the woodwork on each top support. Recently reupholstered in a vibrant sea grass colour material the chair is both striking and very comfortable.
