Vintage mid century console writing desk in the manner of Florence Knoll
This simple and stylish Mid century console desk has many features in common with both Florence Knoll and George Nelson. It has a similar polished steel frame to early Knoll desks but with the addition of the lateral base stretcher joined by the large slot headed polished metal screws to the side stretchers also has echoes of designs by George Nelson. It is therefore a bit of a mystery but there is no denying the quality of the piece. Beautifully constructed in heavy gauge steel the finishing details of the construction of the draws, the push button lock (2 keys included), the figuring and grain of the teak and the large slot headed screws joining the stretchers clearly denotes a high end finish even if the designer is unknown.
There are some marks and dents to the top and a small scar to the right draw front plus also some fine marks in the metal, but no rust or pitting. All in all it’s presented in very good vintage condition with marks and patina commensurate with age.
