Having worked with both Alvar Aalto and Mies van der Rohe the architect, designer and publicist Werner Blaser established his own architecture firm in 1957 which he ran until 2006. Since 2007 he has been working as an independent for Blaser Architekten AG, Basel. Having worked extensively in both China and Japan his design work carries many aspects of harmony and balance and is, in addition, influenced by his collaborations with both Aalto and van der Rohe. All of this is evidenced in this simple but stylish table that uses a bentwood triangular plywood base with a free floating circular tinted glass top. 
 
Whilst working as an architect and designer he created designs for numerous design houses and in particular for the Dutch design company ‘t Spectrum (‘t Spectrum Bergeyk N.B). Founded in 1941 ‘t Spectrum has been designing and producing practical but also beautiful furniture for over 75 years and is best known for the design work of its former directors Gerrit Rietveld and Martin Visser. Between them they created numerous iconic designs of the 60’s and 70’s which have become much sought after by collectors of vintage furniture.
 
This table was therefore produced in the 1960s and is presented in very good vintage condition with some small marks and knocks to the base and a few light scratches in the top as you would expect, but there are no chips out of the edge of the glass. The table also looks good with a clear, or bronze tinted glass top and as they are easy and cheap to buy after purchase you may wish to change the top colour/tint to suit your décor.
